You may have seen the commercials for a certain big-chicken-join-that-shall-not-be-named’s newest chicken sandwich. We were inspired!

Introducing the Red Pepper Honey Pimento Cheese Chicken Sandwich. Sweet honey with red pepper flakes, Hunky Dory pimento cheese, pickles, + crispy chicken on a sesame seed bun.

Aside from a really tasty sando, $1 from each Red Pepper Honey Pimento Chicken Sandwich will be donated to Haus of Codec: committed to ensuring an end to transition-aged youth homelessness in Providence through the arts and workforce development.

The price of the ticket includes: cocktail hour snacks, all the food during the grill and chill, all beverages served during the experience, and gratuity. Cocktail hour starts at 6:30pm followed by a the rest of the foods served at 7:30pm.

Ahhh the riches of Rhode Island! We’ve headed to the tip of Little Compton and were lucky enough to snag some just-caught black seas bass right off the boat thanks to Lotzzo's Fish.

Grilled on the yaki, we’re serving the bass over a salad of green garlic marinated beans & rhubarb (Four Town Farm) chow chow. It’s the perfect summer dinner.

Spring Arrives at Hunky Dory

It’s finally here, the first of the season asparagus has come in gone, next up fiddleheads, local lettuces, and now as of June - local strawberries! We’ve had a lot of fun incorporating these New England treats into our menu so far & are v. excited for what’s to come.

A weekend addition: tempura-fried Maine fiddleheads served with Comeback Sauce for dipping. Crunchy, meaty, & vegan.

Last season’s strawberries turned into strawberry crumb pie, garnished with first of 2023’s local strawberries.

A Bit about Bits ‘n Pieces: Rice Middlins

Rice middlins are simply the smaller, broken pieces of grain that are produced during the hulling and processing of rice. Use, not waste. It’s no surprise an ingredient that embodies such a humble philosophy has played an important part in many culinary traditions.

We’re lucky to have gotten our hands on Carolina Gold rice middlins - a smaller, more playful texture than rice, and each grain still manages to stands alone in your mouth. Think not grits, not risotto, but a creamy & rich bite unique unto itself.

Try them with our Sunday Night Fried Chicken Dinner. Comforting, rich, and not too serious, Sunday nights are a favorite at Hunky Dory. Pairing perfectly with fried chicken is a chilled glass of Huber “Hugo” sparkling rosé - the elegant acidity, creamy palate, and perfect tiny bubbles are all a fried chicken’s best fried. Or go classic with a cold tall boy of ‘gansett. Either way, it’s a tasty Sunday night.

Shrimp & Grits now for Dinner

Maybe our favorite, iconic southern dish to exist. Grilled tender shrimp placed over smoked Jimmy Red cornmeal grits, with a deep roasted tomato + lemongrass broth, topped with a dollop of green tomato chow chow.

Let’s talk about Jimmy Red corn. An almost extinct grain, we owe today’s celebration of the hearty, nutty-like ingredient to the efforts of Anson Mill’s Glenn Roberts preserving the crop and chefs like Sean Brock educating eaters about it’s history. These grits are stick-to-your-ribs comforting and a pure celebration of their history in each bite. Come try some for yourself: Thursday-Monday night, 5-9pm.
